Program Simpozijuma COFDa 23-24.11.2024. – Cor.-1
The symposium was completely realized according to the program in two days. On the first day, the most outstanding was a session of six lectures and a panel discussion in the field of vitreoretinal surgery and touching topics, from trauma to combined surgery of the anterior and posterior segments, about the complications of the same surgery and all applicable techniques of retinal ablation surgery, from “scleral buckling surgery” to vitrectomy and pneumatic retinopexy.
The second session consisted of five sponsor lectures (Bayer). The introduction was an extraordinary motivational lecture by prof. dr Snežane Vujošević, spec. endocrinologist, who looked at the aging process with an emphasis on type 2 diabetes and diabetic retinopathy. The remaining lectures are related to the intravitreal administration of the new enhanced antiVEGF drug Eylea 8mg for use in senile macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema with a maximally extended administration interval of up to 16 weeks.
At the end of the professional program on the first day of the Symposium, there was a lecture by a guest lecturer from Split on the results of using Xen gel implants in glaucoma surgery and a sponsored lecture (Farmont) on medication therapy for glaucoma, i.e. drugs from the Croatian company Jadrangalenski from Rijeka. After the expert program, an extraordinary COFD Assembly was held, where the main point was the announcement of the 2nd COFD Congress with international participation, which will be held in October 2025.
After the working part of the Symposium, the participants socialized at a gala dinner. The second day of the Symposium presented a series of lectures by ophthalmologists from the Clinic for Eye Diseases KCCG and Podgorica Health Center from various areas of clinical practice, from glaucoma, treatment of uveitis and corneal diseases, oculoplastics and case reports. With the participation of guest lecturers, the symposium justified the title “Bridges of cooperation” and confirmed the enviable level of surgical and conservative treatment of ophthalmic patients in Montenegro.
